Last night’s defeat has put a bit of a dampener on the rest of the weekend’s Premier League proceedings. With VAR in play, though, scope remains for an upset or three.
CRYSTAL PALACE vs ARSENAL (1230 ko)
Unusually for this stage of the season, Palace sit above their hosts and will be boosted by the possible return of Wilfred Zaha this afternoon. Mikhel Arteta is yet to design his Arsenal team in an image he would like and this will be a stern test for both the manager and the managed. Draw.
CHELSEA vs BURNLEY
Chelsea have slipped away from the top three and will relish today’s opportunity to start reducing that gap. A Blues win will also do much to keep the bottom of the table tight. The influential Christian Pulisic is out with an adductor injury, which sounds like it belongs in a car. Home win.
EVERTON vs BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
Just a point separates these two as Carlo Ancelotti looks to stamp his seal onto his new charges. Brighton are not the soft touch they might once have been and will offer disciplined resistance. But you’d still expect the hosts to have the upper hand on their own turf. Home win.
LEICESTER CITY vs SOUTHAMPTON
The Foxes’ battle this season is less with the side above them as with the one sitting just below. To emerge as winners of that come May could be as much of an achievement as was their title win. The Saints have pulled themselves up from the league’s nether region in recent weeks, a hugely do well to get impressive streak. But they’re likely to be outfoxed today unless they play the VAR joker. Home win.
MANCHESTER UNITED vs NORWICH CITY
Norwich look destined for the drop. Teemu Pukki is out with a hamstring injury, for which OGS will be grateful. Man U will return to the top five after being demoted from it by Sheffield Utd last night. Home win.
WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS vs NEWCASTLE UNITED
High-flying Wolves will want their visitors to be the ones howling at the final whistle. Newcastle have earned more plaudits so far this season than they probably expected, but will do well to come away from Molineux with anything. Home win.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs LIVERPOOL (1730 ko)
That we’re in the second half of the season with Liverpool having dropped just two points since August is astonishing. Jose’s record against Liverpool is poor – having failed to win eight of his 10 encounters with the hosts. There’s little to suggest any improvement in that record, particularly with Kane out until April. An enticing end to the day’s roster. Away win.

Laporte is world class, not many better defenders around than him anymore, clearly the jenga piece for their team as the defence fell apart without him.
Would be like Liverpool losing Van Dijk for 3 months.

If i owned Man City I might be asking Mr Guardiola how with a billion pounds worth of players he has managed to lose to the likes of Norwich and Newcastle.
I might ask also how having spent hundreds of millions on defenders he still hasnt many decent ones ... LaPorte is ok .... Stones Otamendi Mendy Walker etc etc Not so much.
They should be closer to LIverpool
Sky putting a bird on to give her opinion on Aguero & whether he is quite world class. Ha ha

Amazing to think that great city team are 14.points adrift of Liverpool and played a game more.
Embarringly we are only a point better off than that Villa team.

If we can't beat Everton or Leicester we will be sitting in the bottom 3.
